ICT and culture

Posted on: March 1, 2009

The growing success of information and communications technology (ICT) is slowly closing the gap around the globe. By utilizing ICT, it now seems as if the world again only contains Pangaea, the supercontinent that existed during the Paleozoic and Mesozoic eras about 250 million years ago. ICT acted as a superglue, binding these different countries and forcing them to take a good look around. We are not just hearing our own music anymore; the drums of different cultural impacts are reverberating around the world creating a rhythm that is new and exciting.

One of my favorite ICT tools is the Rosetta Stone. A language-learning software which helped open my world to a variety of cultures. Rosetta Stone acted as a teacher which showed and taught me the different languages around the globe.

rosettafrench1 is another interesting tool. It is a DIY (do-it-yourself) internet site which contains different tutorial videos, my favorite section being the food and drink as it offers videos of how to make cuisines from around the globe. Yum.
